Description

Join us for a lesson on native plant identification at our headquarters, where our water harvesting and nursery got their start! We’ll be identifying different perennial woody plants, wildflower seedlings, and native grasses. We will be taking questions, and learning from each other along the way. This fun and interactive class will come with a 30 minute introduction in which everyone will receive a plant list. We will do a circle through the neighborhood to test our skills we learn, do a little light weeding to put our new knowledge into practice, and end with some socialization. At the end of the workshop, there will be a free raffle of 3 five-gallon Ocotillos!

Workshop Schedule 9am – 12pm:

  • 9am – Introduction, coffee, and snacks.
  • 10:00am – Walk through neighborhood
  • 11:00am – Practice identification and at project site, social hour, and Ocotillo give-away

We will specifically cover:

  • Native plant list
  • Some common and important non-native plants
  • Harvesting and propagating seed
  • Wildflower identification
  • Grass identification
  • Shrub and tree identification
  • Utilizing plants and their applications

We’ll provide:

  • Water
  • Extra hats and gloves
  • Bathroom
  • First aid kit
  • Light snacks
  • FREE SEEDS!
  • Our starter Native Plant List
  • 3 Ocotillo Via Raffle

Make sure to bring your own:

  • Water bottles
  • Hat
  • Gloves if you have them
  • Walking shoes
